The home of the Lapacho tree is in South America, mainly in Argentinia, Brasil and Paraguay. The tree reaches the stately height of up to 30 metres and can become 700 years old. The splendour of its blossom is a welcome sight for the onlooker.
The tea for commercial use is taken from the inner bark of the tree. New tissue grows on this spot causing the older layers to move to the outside giving protection.
