Venalicia – my fulfilment of quality and service
Whenever friends ask me, why I am operating a tea shop, I do have to go back a bit in my own history to make them understand.
My fascination with tea began as a teenager, when I didn’t hesitate to take the train to Munich just to buy a bag of delicious fresh Darjeeling leaf tea. Later on, as curiosity made me travel to the US, I settled in Tampa, enjoying the sunsets at the Clearwater beach pavilion. Working at a café I learned that even though we had excellent speciality coffee it wasn't easy to get good tea everywhere.
How delighted was I, when years later during my studies at Oxford, I could enjoy delicious cream tea at the Myrthe. During my one year internship at Whittard in London I was lucky to call Giles Hilton, the product director called "the Nose", my teacher in preparing a training manual for the sales force. I still hear his fascinating stories about his numerous travels to the most remote tea gardens and plantations. When it was time to settle down in Germany, I couldn't help it but had to share my years of experience and fascination with tea and good service with others.
Venalicia is the work of many friends of good tea who are assisting me with their advice and hands on help to generate a inforative site on the subject of tea.
